Various USAAF units used the airfield at Griesheim beginning in April 1945. The USAF had a presence at the airfield for a short time and the Army AAF used it as one of the helicopter "Dust-Off" units from the 1950's until its closure in 1992.

Though not a part of the VMM, the old tower at the airfield has been renovated by members of the August Euler group and the Technical University.
